DICL-Qwen3VL: Decoupled Confidence Calibration for Interpretable Workwear Detection
It decouples visual uncertainty from compliance reasoning ambiguity in vision-language models while outputting explicit evidence to aid human industrial safety checks.
The authors introduce DICL-Qwen3VL, an adapted vision-language framework that combines upper-body workwear detection with separate visual and compliance reasoning confidence scores. The model uses token entropy, image perturbation sensitivity, and group relative policy optimization to calibrate confidence alongside localization accuracy. On both an internal company dataset and a web dataset, the method achieved mAP@50 scores of 0.730 and 0.753, outperforming adapted baseline models.
Client angle, caveats & evidence
Client angle Relevant if a client is looking to implement vision-language models for personal protective equipment monitoring and needs transparent, dual-level confidence metrics for audit workflows.
Caveats Evaluation is limited to upper-body workwear across two datasets without reporting real-time inference speeds or deployment constraints.
